Women-led business feature of the month
We want to celebrate women-led businesses that are absolutely crushing it — this month, it’s the Pink City Rickshaw Company.
This women-owned and operated nonprofit organization, based in Jaipur, India, provides employment opportunities to over 200 women from low-income households.
The Pink City Rickshaw Company gives women who might struggle to find safe or reliable employment the chance to earn income as rickshaw drivers. The company offers driver training so women can lead guided tours around the old city of Jaipur in its signature hot pink rickshaws. Some drivers are single women who work to support themselves independently of a man, while others increase their household income to provide more opportunities for their children.
In a male-dominant field, this innovative idea is breaking the boundaries of what is possible for women in India.
